TrishaIt was a cold rainy evening. She always seemed to be alone on those nights. Sitting on the couch, her TV showed images of the current war, one fought overseas. It wasn't a war like other wars had been, but it was war. Her red hair seemed to be brown in the darkness. The phone rang, and she didn't move. Maybe if she didn't answer, they'd stop calling. Maybe, whatever they had to say, wouldn't be true. Maybe it'd just go away. The answering machine clicked on. "Mrs. Blackney, This is General Russell, US Air Force.
